Sunčica Ostoić (1976) is an art historian and theorist from Zagreb. She graduated in Art History and Philosophy (2000) and Library Science (2014) at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. In 2022, she obtained the academic title of Doctor of Science – Art and Media at the Faculty of Media and Communications, Singidunum University in Belgrade by defending her doctoral dissertation "Modalities of Extreme, Excess, Radical and Extravagant Contemporary Visual Art Practices", which she wrote under the mentorship of Prof. Miodrag Šuvaković. She is an external associate at the Academy of Fine Arts (ALU) of the University of Zagreb, where she has been teaching elective courses Art at the Crossroads with Science and Technology 1 and 2 since 2016, and since 2019. Writing Practices 1 and 2. At the Academy of Fine Arts, she is also a co-author and expert associate on the scientific and educational programs Curatorial Practices in the Contemporary Art Field, ASH MA – Art, Science & Health, and the projects Remote.lab and Matrice. As a co-founder and long-term head of the Zagreb-based association KONTEJNER | bureau of contemporary art practice (2002), she has been working as an independent curator, organizer of art events and researcher for twenty-five years. She is the author of the prominent, internationally recognized festivals of contemporary art Touch Me (since 2002), Device_art (since 2004) and Extravagant Bodies (since 2007), as well as professional and scientific articles and numerous prefaces. She is the editor of the catalogue of exhibitions and festivals and interdisciplinary proceedings. She has given lectures at international professional and scientific conferences and at higher education and art institutions. The registration number of a scientist at CroRIS is 410876. She is a member of the study section of ULUPUH and the Croatian section of AICA.

Her research interests are focused on curatorial practices and theory of visual art at the intersection of science, technology and the body in the 20th and 21st centuries.

The elective course Art at the Crossroads with Science and Technology 1 and 2 introduces students to the development of this artistic field, key artists and institutions from the end of the 20th century to the present. It deals with five thematic areas: interactive, robotic, internet and sound art, and the connection between art and natural sciences. The Writing Practices 1 and 2 elective course focuses on acquiring the key knowledge and skills needed to write various professional texts, such as a biography, curriculum vitae, artist's statement, etc. It also develops competencies to effectively present one's own artistic work, both orally and through portfolios.
