What does the entrance exam look like?

All deadlines, documents, technical information about enrollment and the entrance exam are published on the enrollment page. The entrance exam for the study of Graphic Arts takes place in two parts, for which it is good to prepare in advance.

What kind of students are we looking for?

We are looking for skilled, creative and diligent students who show a willingness to research, create their own initiatives, as well as to collaborate and collaborate, intellectually curious, interested in acquiring new professional knowledge and acquiring professional skills, as well as mastering a variety of techniques from classic to contemporary digital tools in the field of artistic graphics, illustration and design.

The study of Graphic Arts is especially interesting for those who love and develop drawing as the basis of their artistic expression and have already encountered drawing, painting and graphic techniques in their high school education, but also for all those who come from high schools or vocational schools and want to develop their drawing interest and creativity and authorial expression.

Regardless of whether they went to art school or high school, all candidates are welcome, and it is important for us to see their motivation to study graphics and their interest in developing their artistic skills through work and everyday drawing.

It is also important to us that candidates show their interests through visits to exhibitions, following portals and events in the field of art, culture, literature, music and design (workshops, galleries, collectives, events, exhibitions, competitions, collaborations).

What does the entrance exam look like?

The first part of the entrance exam - Map

The first eliminatory part in which the talent test is performed on the basis of the attached folder.

The contents of the map:

CV up to 2500 characters
A letter of motivation up to 2500 characters (in the letter of motivation, write what your interests are and reasons for this particular study program, what skills make you competent, mention artists, works and/or artistic directions that you know and that inspire you, dedicate up to 20% to your other interests and skills you have and try to connect them with your interest in studying. Before you finish, check your grammar
50 to 150 free works that were created exclusively outside the process of programmed art education.
Drawings by observation and imagination; portrait, figure, nude, still life, free themes, techniques: drawing, oil, acrylic, ink, collage... Make a selection of freelance works that best represent your interests and skills

The second part of the exam - checking special knowledge, skills and abilities

Method of checking the candidate's artistic predispositions:

Drawing with some of the drawing tools on papers of 50×70 to 70×100 cm.

Portrait based on a live model – format approx. 50×70 cm. It is drawn twice, and for each portrait 3 hours are drawn.
Work on a given topic – format approx. 70×100 cm. The topic is determined by the committee just before the exam itself. The candidate has 3 hours of time to complete the task.
nude according to a live model – format approx. 70×100 cm. The nude is drawn twice, and each nude is drawn for 2 hours.
spatial ensemble (still life) format approx. 50×70 cm. The spatial composition is set by the members of the committee, and is drawn for 2 hours.
drawing by imagination, format up to 50×70 cm The technique is chosen by the candidate, and he has 2 hours of time at his disposal.

The verbal presentation of the map and motivation for the study is carried out for the purpose of assessing the maturity, interests and personality of the candidate (this part is informative and does not bring points).

General information

Applicants are required to bring an ID card, a drawing board (100×70 cm), paper and drawing utensils (charcoal, pencil, pen, ink, etc.).

According to individual items, the applicant can receive the following number of points:

map up to 100
practical part of the exam up to 600
A test of general and fine arts up to 100

The total sum of the points of the three elements of the assessment of candidates from the first and second parts of the procedure for the examination of special knowledge, skills and abilities may not exceed 800 points.

The point threshold for enrolment in the undergraduate university study of Graphic Arts is 400 points.

What to do after studying?

After completing the undergraduate study, students will master basic drawing skills and techniques, from drawing by observation to imagination, as well as all basic graphic techniques: high and intaglio printing, flat and permeable printing, as well as get acquainted with the basics of illustration, typography and graphic design.

There are two basic areas in which we provide students with professional knowledge and in which they later develop their authorial expression and approach to artistic graphics, and that is drawing and knowledge of working in graphic techniques. This basic knowledge of the undergraduate program enables them to later professionally engage in artistic graphics and improve in the widest range of artistic activity, from printing through drawing to illustration and design, scenography, photography, etc.

Many of our alumni are active on the art scene and have won many prestigious awards, participate in international competitions (for example in the illustration segment), as well as scholarship holders and winners of residency programs and collaborations, as well as active exhibitors and authors. A certain number of alumni are active through various forms of street art, such as painting murals, while others are realized through collaborations with publishing houses on designing books and illustrating editions, and publish editions in collaboration with Little Bells, and often launch their own artistic initiatives, organize themselves into art collectives, or specialize in art printing services or original art crafts and workshops and services.

Students who want to continue their studies after completing their undergraduate studies can take the entrance exam for the University Graduate Study of Graphic Arts. They can also continue their studies at another related graduate study at the Academy of Fine Arts or another higher education institution in the country and abroad.
