Who do we work with?

The University Undergraduate Study of Visual Arts is carried out in cooperation with a wide network of domestic and international social and cultural institutions. Such an approach enables students to connect art education with the contemporary social, cultural and professional context.

Collaborations represent an important part of the identity of the Teaching Department of the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Zagreb and contribute to the quality of teaching, the development of research and artistic projects, international mobility and the professional empowerment of students.

The study is traditionally realized in cooperation with the Department of Art History of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb, which connects artistic practice, theoretical knowledge and socio-humanistic perspectives. In such an interdisciplinary model of education, students acquire competencies that go beyond a narrow artistic field and enable them to understand the wider cultural, educational and social environment.

The Teaching Department cooperates with numerous cultural institutions, galleries, museums, schools, associations and civil society organizations in Croatia and abroad. Exhibitions, workshops, public programs, field teaching and project activities enable students to participate in concrete forms of cooperation with the community and develop the experience of working in different professional and social contexts. Special emphasis is placed on connecting art, education and socially engaged practices.

The development strategy of the Department of Teacher Education is also aimed at strengthening international cooperation and mobility of students and teachers through Erasmus+ programs, bilateral cooperation and international artistic research projects. Such collaborations enable the exchange of knowledge and experience, getting to know different educational models and contemporary artistic practices, and the development of international visibility and networking.

An important segment of collaborative activities also refers to connecting with the fields of technology, science, sustainability and contemporary art pedagogies. The development of new workshops, research platforms and interdisciplinary programs opens up space for collaborations with various experts, institutions and partners from the public, cultural and creative sectors.
