What does the entrance exam look like?

The procedure for verifying special knowledge, skills and abilities for enrolment in the university study of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Zagreb consists of an application part, an overview of the attached folders with the applicant's works, including a CV, a motivation letter in which the applicants express and present their motives and reasons, their wishes to study, as well as previous educational and artistic experiences.

After that, depending on the results of the first part of the examination, the applicants take the next phase of the examination, which is the entrance exam. By drawing directly according to the live model, they gain additional points with a test in general and art culture. An indispensable part is also the interview, during which we gain a better and broader picture of the candidate himself.

The final scoring is final with the results of the state graduation exam, which are added to the previous scoring, and in this way a ranking list of candidates is created.

The study of Painting is looking for and needs creative, motivated, patient, but also dynamic people! Curious people! People committed to solving art and artistic challenges without fear. People dedicated to exploring their own painting and drawing horizons, people with initiative, able to make decisions independently and at the same time adopt and discover new knowledge, techniques and skills.

Communicative people! People who think about their own work, but also communicate with colleagues, with the environment!

Here we deal with charcoal, pencil, paint, we work with our hands and eyes, we get dirty sometimes and that's why we need people who are not afraid of it!

Everyone who feels that way, regardless of which previous educational system they come from, is welcome for us to unite and expand our shared artistic experiences!

What to do after studying?

The logical continuation after the undergraduate study of Painting is the graduate study of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb. However, due to the similarity of the field, students have the opportunity to continue their studies in other graduate study programs offered by our academy.

Regardless of this, given that they have mastered the basic painting skills and experiences, got acquainted with the basic knowledge related to the history of art and technology, they can independently start building their own professional career through painting and exhibition activities, painting public or private spaces for various purposes, murals, but also dealing with various forms and types of the so-called creative industries, scenography, organization of exhibitions and cultural programs or events, and education.
