What does the entrance exam look like?
All deadlines, documents, technical information about enrollment and the entrance exam are published on the enrollment page. The entrance exam for the study of New Media takes place in two parts, for which it is good to prepare in advance.
What kind of students are we looking for?
We are looking for playful, unusual, engaged, critical, intellectually curious, artistically gifted, socially aware, solidary, hardworking, introverted, extroverted and those open to various disciplines and media. The study of New Media is especially interesting for those who express, engage in or show interest in various activities such as music (classical, electronic, indie), writing, comics, dance, drama or photography groups, journalism, rapping/spoken word, are active in the community through volunteering or activism.
It is important to us that candidates are ready to motivate themselves, develop themselves, and expand the boundaries of their thinking. It is often more important for us to recognize the potential of candidates than the current skills of candidates. Gymnasium students are just as welcome as candidates from vocational or art schools.
It is important for all candidates to show a real interest in new media, to regularly watch films, read, visit exhibitions, go to concerts, performances and follow events in their city.

What does the entrance exam look like?
The first part of the entrance exam - Map
The purpose of the folder is to show your skills, interests, ideas and ambitions as best as possible. The folder is the eliminatory part of the entrance exam, so it is important to design and present it as well as possible. The folder is accompanied by a motivation letter in which the attendee explains their wishes to enroll at OZAFIN, their expectations from their studies and why they think that this department suits their artistic needs. Applicants state what they are familiar with in the field of animated film, new media and contemporary art, what inspired them and why, etc. After the list of applicants who have passed the map is published, they take the second, practical part of the exam.
Motivation letter - should have 1 to 2 cards or up to 2500 characters. In the motivation letter, write what your interests are and reasons for this particular study program, what skills make you competent, mention artists, works and/or artistic directions that you know and that inspire you, dedicate up to 20% to your other interests and skills you have and try to connect them with your interest in study. Before you finish, check your grammar.
Artworks - a minimum of 20 works, of which at least 10 were created outside the school curriculum, and can be: imagination drawing, observational drawing, crochets, comics, illustrations, paintings, collages, frottage, work in textiles or other materials, artist book, object, sketchbook, etc.
Media works - a minimum of 5 works that can be in the media: video, sound, film, performance documentation, installations, interventions in space, etc., animation, online work, series of photographs, music, etc., optionally: text, short story, poetry.
Optional - texts, synopsis, screenplay, short story, poetry ...
The second part of the exam - checking special knowledge, skills and abilities
Test in general and art culture
Free form on given topics (drawing, collage, photography, performance, video, etc. at the candidate's choice) is performed with accessories and/or equipment that the candidate brings with her. The topics are determined by the committee immediately before the exam itself. The candidate has 3 hours to complete the task.
Autobiographical work (art or media work) - can be performed in any medium from drawing, installation, video work, etc., and is performed with accessories and/or equipment that the candidate brings with her.
Interpretation (group work on a given topic in any medium) can be performed in any medium. If the media is performative or performed in a public space, it must be documented with a video, photograph or audio recording that is submitted to the committee as a digital file. The topic is determined by the committee immediately before the exam itself.
Essay on the topic – questions about contemporary Croatian and world art (video, photography, performance, installation, film, or animated film / for this task it is important that you visit some of the institutions listed below)
Folder presentation / An integral part of the entrance exam is an interview with candidates in which kandidati_tkinje present the works from their folder, explain their procedures, processes, motivations and inspirations.
General information
Pristupnici_e are dužni_e to bring an ID card, a drawing board, paper and drawing utensils (charcoal, pencil, pen, ink, collage materials, etc.). Some of the tasks can also be carried out on your own laptop, tablet, mobile phone.

What to do after studying?
After completing the undergraduate study, students will master the basic skills of recording and editing audio and video, analogue and digital photography, and post-production techniques.
The interdisciplinary nature of the program enables professional engagement in artistic practice, but also in many related professions (filming, editing, set design, costume design, graphic or fashion design studios, cultural management, production, institutional and non-institutional education).
Our goal is not only to educate a new generation of contemporary authors, but also a new generation of cultural workers.
Many of our alumni are active on the art scene, have won many prestigious awards, participate in the Erste Fragments competition, are among the finalists of the Radoslav Putar Award, are residents of the Akademie Schloss Solitude, Summer Sessions V_2, participate in the 25fps festival, the Youth Salon...
Students who want to continue their studies after completing their undergraduate studies can take the entrance exam for the University Graduate Study of New Media. They can also continue their studies at another related graduate study at the Academy of Fine Arts or another higher education institution in the country and abroad.
