Curriculum

First year

In the first year, the main art subject is in dialogue with the teaching of new media technologies. In order for students to acquire technical skills and develop authorial practice at the same time. Classes are conducted in such a way that students choose from the offered topics on the basis of which they develop their own project. By answering the given topics, they acquire the skills of using the camera, editing, access to sound and photography, while at the same time developing the ability to think critically about their own and other people's work. By group analysis of completed tasks, students acquire the skills to articulate their own actions and comment on their own works and the works of their colleagues from the first year of study.

Second year

During the second year, certain subjects are combined into thematic project units, where students react to society and the space around them: through textures, materials, movement, text, sound, etc. Through a series of tasks, students become aware of the outdoor and non-gallery space as a space of work, research and inspiration, they are directed to think about the art system, the position of the author, the viewer and the audience. Practical topics are followed by reading and discussion of theoretical literature.

Projects are implemented in cooperation with holders of compulsory courses and external professional and artistic associates. Teaching takes place through lectures, group work, mentoring, individual consultations and seminars. The emphasis is on creativity and contextualization of one's own work. Students acquire all knowledge through work on their own projects.

Third year

In the third year, students develop their own projects in any medium. They are involved in the projects of the Department, but they are expected to organize activities both inside and outside the studio, to join workshops, hold exhibitions, screenings, seminars on their own initiative. At least once a semester, students present their work and their artistic research project to their colleagues. Through seminars and projects, they acquire the competencies of critical perception of their own and other people's work, as well as the ability to articulate and contextualize their own practice.

In the last semester, students write a text in addition to their practical final work. With written work, we encourage creative and experimental methods of research and development of one's own topic and voice. Through lectures, seminars, group evaluation and criticism (critiques), analytical and creative writing workshops, students develop their intellectual capacities, imagination and self-confidence in the use of words and images.

The study ends with the realization and presentation of a completed independent project.
