Curriculum

First year:

The first year of study combines weekly courses and blocks of lectures that provide students with advanced tools of animated film. Students explore classical animation (cartoon, stop-motion, pixilation) and 3D animation, develop a sense of the director's handwriting, and adopt the principles of visual storytelling and story development. Theoretical lectures in the aesthetics and analysis of animated film provide a critical framework for understanding the history and contemporary practice of animation.

In addition to regular classes, the program of the first year is enriched with various workshops, guest lectures and visits to animated film festivals where students come into direct contact with the current domestic and international animation scene. Working in multimedia techniques and exploring different materialities and media encourages experimentation with the form and content of animated film and opens up space for students to find their own authorial expression from the first steps of their studies.

Throughout the year, the works are regularly presented and critically evaluated in the development of a constructive dialogue with mentors and colleagues.

Second year 

In the second year of study, students are fully dedicated to the realization of the graduation film, which they develop with a mentor. With the graduate thesis, we encourage creative and experimental methods of research and development of their own theme and authorial voice in animated film.

The thesis consists of a complete and complex animated film and a textual part and can be performed in any technique, form or discipline of animation: from classical and experimental procedures to digital and hybrid approaches. The written part of the thesis is a creative and processual document that is in dialogue with the practical part of the work and documents the research and production process of making a film.
