izv. prof. dr. art. Snježana Ban

She was born in 1980 in Zagreb. She graduated in 2007 from the Department of Teaching at the Academy of Fine Arts in the class of Prof. Ante Rašić and in 2008 from the Faculty of Textile Technology in Zagreb, majoring in fashion design. With the exhibition "I am an artist, therefore I doubt" and the dissertation "Doubt as Creative Potential in Contemporary Painting" she received her PhD in 2019 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb under the mentorship of Prof. Ante Rašić and dr. sc. Blaženka Perica. So far, she has exhibited at nine solo exhibitions and a large number of group and thematic exhibitions in the country and abroad. She is the author of the concept of the group exhibition "Art is Doubt" held in three parts during 2020 at the Lexart warehouse in Zagreb, which was attended by thirty-seven Croatian artists. She is the co-author of the concept, text and exhibition of the thematic group exhibition and catalogue "Retroperspective: These Works Could Be..." at the Prsten Gallery and the PM HDLU in Zagreb in 2016 with Teo Hatadi and Ante Rašić. She was awarded the Grand Prix of the 28. Youth Salon (2006) and the second prize Erste fragments (2006).

The focus of her artistic work is on painting, i.e. collage and collage procedures as the primary technique and method of work, with frequent references to artistic, literary or philosophical examples from the modernist and postmodernist heritage.

Painting courses are oriented towards different possibilities of expression in painting, in accordance with the individual orientation of students, encompassing the expanded field of painting and painting, in a wide range of specific painting processes, materials and procedures with an emphasis on flexible boundaries between artistic disciplines and techniques, which have marked art from the avant-garde to the present day.
