He was born in 1983. He is a visual artist who primarily works in the field of painting. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2010 in the class of Prof. Zoltan Novak. Since 2022, he has been an assistant professor at the Academy of Fine Arts and is the winner of the ESSL AWARD CEE, Vienna (2011) and the Vraneković Award at the 33. Youth Salon, Zagreb (2016). He has participated in several residency programs abroad and his works can be found in the Albertina Modern in Vienna and Erste Fragmenti in Zagreb. He has exhibited at home and abroad, including at the 9. Beijing International Art Biennale at the National Museum of China in Beijing (2022), the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb (2024, 2018, 2012), the National Museum in Zadar (2018), the National Museum in Gdansk (2016), the Essl Museum in Vienna (2013, 2011), the Spinnerei in Leipzig (2013), the Kunstlerhaus in Vienna (2011) and the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rijeka (2009).

In his paintings, Pavlović builds a unique visual world in which he combines personal experiences and motifs with various elements of virtual reality. His recognizable paintings function as a collage of different influences, paying tribute to internet phenomena, viral content, scenes from comics, and the painting traditions of late Gothic and early Renaissance, which represent a significant frame of reference for his artistic expression. Using modernist collage procedures, he combines heterogeneous visual elements, connecting seemingly incompatible motifs and creating quasi-idyllic intersections in which anachronistic worlds collide – the historical and the contemporary intertwine in painting scenes in which classical compositions and iconography meet the visual language of internet culture, the analogue and digital coexist in the tension between traditional painting materiality and the aesthetic codes of virtual space, while the human and the posthuman form visual hybridities in which the artistic references of the human figure merge with posthuman elements, creating scenes that question the boundaries of identity and subjectivity in the digital age. He contrasts these references with the digital language of gifs and the camp aesthetics of screensavers and stock photography, creating a fresh and provocatively ironic departure.

The courses Painting and Drawing and Painting develop painting skills through working on nature and imagination, encouraging students to explore historical models and contemporary expressions. The focus is on tempera and acrylic techniques, composition, color and texture. By analyzing the painting heritage, students develop a critical attitude, adopt methods of painting construction and form personal artistic expression as the foundation of further artistic development.
