Nicole Hewitt works with film, installations, performance and text. She graduated / PhD from the Slade School of Art in 2013. I use the tools of film, narrative and discursive conventions with an emphasis on process, within hybrid formats that include discursive and poetic principles rooted in the feminist understanding of art as inseparable from life practice, with an emphasis on minor, invisible, fragile and fragile procedures of work in and through the medium and material. From 2023 until today, I have been working on the project "Time Floats/Zone 1", which continues on previous multi-year, collaborative projects, at the intersection of experimental film, video, spatial installation, performance and text, projects that reflect on the mediation of memory, history, specific narratives through technologies of representation and documentation. "Time Runners Zone 01" is the first installment of the new series, it has science fiction genres as its backbone through a feminist perspective on the territory of Eastern Europe, while the broader framework of thinking of the entire work can be placed in social fields marked by post-Soviet, post-communist, post-Cold War ghosts, transformations of the environment and ecosystems, the possibilities of the other and the body in the encounter with constructed space, landscape and technology. In 2021, I completed the project "Women of Minor Speculation", started in 2016. The project vibrates between historiography, documentary, object analysis, travelogue and speculative fiction, and deals with remains as evidence, landscapes as witnesses, intertwined biographies of archaeologists, their objects and subjects of research (figurines, cement, ceramics, music, gossip) that appear within a time gap of 6000 years. In the center of the plot is a Neolithic figurine, and as a counterbalance to the loading of nature into figurines, the film places the figurine within the framework of science fiction, using memory technologies, devices for storing data, and intertwines multiple pasts with potential futures. In 2018, I completed a long-term episodic project (video, performance, book) This Woman Is Called Jasna, which used materials from various archives from the MM Center to the Hague Tribunal, cultural and social events in the late 80s and early 90s, my own memories, Jasna's memories, discourses that shaped her as an author, theories that shaped her as a subject, depictions that petrified her as an object, war migrations that marked us as displaced and never in accordance with our own past.

I teach New Art Practices and Multimedia and Multidisciplinary Art in the first year of undergraduate studies, and New Art Practices in the third year and Work on the realization of a project from new media at MA, within which we go through a number of topics from contemporary art theory and practice (feminist practices, queer theories, postcolonial theories, object theory, etc., and writing practices).
