izv. prof. dr. art. Miran Šabić

He was born in 1986 in Brežice, Slovenia. He has lived in Samobor since birth. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2010 in the class of prof. art. Frane Pare, and received his doctorate in 2017 under the mentorship of prof. art. Ante Rašić and prof. dr. sc. Leonida Kovač with his dissertation "Archiving memory – on the border of life and death". He has been awarded 15 awards and recognitions for his work in Croatia and abroad. Since 2009, he has been continuously exhibiting in the country and abroad. He has exhibited at 31 solo and over 140 group exhibitions in the USA, France, China, South Korea, England, Belgium, Austria, Poland, Hungary, North Macedonia, Czech Republic, Germany, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. He has participated in residency programs in the USA, Belgium, Germany and Croatia, and has given lectures on his own work in South Korea, the USA, Latvia, Belgium, Germany, Poland and Croatia. He has led more than 20 workshops for professional artists, children and young people in the country and abroad. He has published 2 independent graphic folders, and has participated in 9 group graphic folders. He works as an associate professor at the Department of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts.

Through drawing, graphics, painting and art installation, I explore contemporary aspects of personal memory. In my artistic practice, I study memory from several aspects – the memory of the individual, the memory of space, collective memory. Also, I am interested in the existence of is a universal model of the most important memories that can be applied to every human being, and how to materialize these memories through art.

Developing creativity through drawing and graphics: encouraging drawing by imagination and realizing an artistic idea suitable for transfer to a matrix. Improving personal graphic expression. Recognizing an adequate graphic technique according to a template or idea. Getting acquainted with the techniques of flat printing (lithography, algraphy, pronto plate lithography, waterless lithography) and throughput printing (screen printing).
