Lav Paripović

He was born in 1989. In 2009, he graduated from the School of Applied Arts, and in the same year he enrolled in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts. In 2015, he graduated with a cum laude qualification in the class of Z. Novak. In 2016, he received the Young Artist Award (HDLU), and in 2017 he completed his professional training (stage production) at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb. He received commendation for his work from the expert jury in 2015 at the 3. Biennial of Painting (HDLU, Zagreb) and in 2020 at the 35. Youth Salon (HDLU, Zagreb). In 2024, he received the "Vladimir Dodik Trokut_Iva Vraneković" Counterpoint Award for his work at the 37. Youth Salon. He has been in residency in Ljubljana (2025, KUD mreža), Leipzig (2019, CREart) and Belgium (2014, GLOart). He is also involved in murals (urban interventions) with which he has participated in a number of festivals, and he also works on his own initiative. In 2020, he was employed as an assistant at the Department of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts.

Through my practice, I deal with the relationship between the meaning and perception of painting, and the dialogue that occurs in a displaced context (private space, public space, gallery space). Emphasis is also placed on processuality that mixes with the notion of completion. A transmedia approach with a view to painting and the position of the painter within his work.

Drawing Nude 2 is a continuation of the practice of drawing Act 1 with extended tasks of technical practice of mastering drawing and understanding the task. The course is mostly based on practical work, and on dialogue and organization of drawing establishment.
