Ivan Vanja Martinović

He was born in 1990 in Zagreb. He enrolled at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Zagreb in 2009, and since 2010 he has been simultaneously studying at the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Zagreb. He completed the undergraduate university study of Business Economics in 2012, the graduate university study of Business Economics (majoring in Management) in 2013, while the integrated undergraduate and graduate university study of Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art (majoring in Painting) was completed in 2017. Since the same year, he has been employed at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb, and was promoted to the associate position of senior assistant in 2023. At the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Fine Arts, she teaches the courses Painting Technology 1, 2 and 3, while through extracurricular workshops she also teaches students practical skills of vector digitization of conservation and restoration graphic documentation. In addition to her active engagement in the field of conservation and restoration of wall paintings, she continuously improves her professional knowledge by attending international professional workshops and summer schools.

In the integrated study of Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art, courses in the field of painting technology are carried out during the second, third and fourth year of study, and these are subjects that are held through theoretical and practical classes in lecture rooms and workshops of the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art, at Zamenhofova 14. Painting technology is a branch of fine arts that deals with the study of the properties of painting materials and the ways of their production, processing and use in the creation of works of art. In addition to the fact that painting technology is crucial for understanding how works of art behave in interaction with the environment and the passage of time, knowledge of the materiality of the original is a key prerequisite for any conservation and restoration intervention.
