Dominik Vuković

He was born in Zagreb in 1990. He graduated from the Academy in the class of Svjetlan Junaković in 2015. He participates in many art colonies and workshops and exhibits at several group and four solo exhibitions. He collaborates with various Croatian publishing houses. The illustrated novella "Long Journey's Goal" by Micheal Ende, the picture books "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by Zoran Ferić and "The Fly in the Studio" by Sanja Lovrenčić were included among the 25 most beautifully designed Croatian books in 2019 and 2020 by the National and University Library in Zagreb. He received the "Grigor Vitez" award for his work on the picture book "Svjetlana i sni o letu" published by Mali zvona, and for his work on the picture book "Nothing Terrible" published by Bodoni, he won the "Sheep in the Kitchen" award for the best picture book in 2024. He lives and works as a freelance illustrator, graphic artist and painter in Zagreb, and since 2019 he has been working as an external associate at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb at the Department of Graphic Arts. 2023.

The main interest in my work as an author is related to drawing, the meaning of a drawing or illustration through the metaphor we use to transfer the narrative to different contexts. In addition to observing the relationship between drawing and the observer at the level of metaphor and motif, I devote a large part of my interest to the research of drawing and painting techniques with the idea that a certain approach or way of artistic expression can contribute to the drawing concept and illustration.

Graphics 1 - The focus of the course is on developing, solving drawing tasks assigned and mentored by Professor Baće and selecting works for transfer to the medium of graphics. Graphic techniques - Student exercises in the workshop for flat printing or lithography. Illustrations 1 and 2 - Working with students by assignment or topic. The focus of this course is to develop drawing skills in terms of conveying a story. Tasks are based on individual works and series of works. On The course deals with all visual media.
