doc. art. Ana Božičević

She was born in 1977 in Zagreb, where she finished elementary school and Sports Gymnasium. In 2008, she graduated from the Department of Conservation and Restoration of the Academy of Fine Arts, with the topic "Restoration of the wooden polychrome sculpture of Mario Immaculata from the Diocesan Museum in Požega", under the mentorship of doc. mr. art. Eva Winkler and co-mentorship doc. dr. sc. Vladan Desnica. She passed the state professional exam in 2010 and since then she has had permission from the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia to perform the tasks of protection and preservation of cultural property. Since her student days, she has been working continuously in the profession, first in the private sector, and since 2010 as an external associate of the Academy of Fine Arts. Since 2024, she has been an associate professor. She is the leader of numerous projects, writes professional papers and edits publications, and participates in the organization of exhibitions in the field of art heritage protection. She is a mentor and co-mentor of about twenty successfully defended graduate theses, and several works that have won the Rector's Award. She is the winner of the Ars Summa Universitatis award for artistic and educational results in the promotion of artistic disciplines and professions, national culture and art, and the transfer of knowledge, especially in the education of young artists and experts in the artistic field of the University of Zagreb in 2022/23, and a member of the organizing committee of the exhibition that received the annual award of the Croatian Society of Art Historians for the protection of cultural heritage in 2022. She is a member of the Croatian Conservation Society and ULUPUH.

Conservation and restoration of wooden polychrome sculpture

The field of conservation of wooden, polychrome and gilded sculptures includes a historical overview of methods and techniques in all layers, while respecting the ethical principles of the profession. Exercises on simulations and conservation and restoration works are carried out on objects of protected cultural heritage.
