ABOUT THE EVENT AND VISUALS

International Animation Day, which is celebrated on October 28 around the world, celebrates the art of animation. Our association, as a branch of the global organization ASIFA, has been participating in this event since 2003, a year after it was officially established in 2002, and every year we try to mark the event as close to that date as possible.

International Animation Day is celebrated on October 28 every year to commemorate the first public screening of animated film in 1892 in Paris, when French inventor Émile Reynaud displayed a series of animated images called "Pantomimes Lumineuses" with the help of his invention, the praxinoscope, at the Grévin Museum. This event is considered a forerunner of contemporary animated film.

The goal of celebrating this day is to promote animation as an art form, various techniques and styles of animation, and to celebrate the creativity of animators around the world. On this day, animated film screenings, workshops, panels and various events are held to raise awareness of the importance of animation in film and visual arts.

SHORT FILM COMPETITION PROGRAMME

The program brings a selection of animated films by Croatian authors and achievements made in domestic production or co-production during the past year. This year's selection team of ASIFA Croatia, consisting of Kata Gugić, Katrin Novaković and Matija Pisačić, has selected a total of nineteen films, nine of which are professional and ten are student.

POP-UP EXHIBITION AND BOOK PROMOTION

"Dress for the finale" and "Raft"

ASIFA Croatia presents the second round of its publishing series: the filming books of contemporary Croatian animated films "Dress for the Finale" and "Raft" by Martina and Marko Meštrović. Through the pre-production phase of creation and combining the literary and visual aspects of animated film, the publications and the exhibition represent a valuable insight into the development of the author's ideas, the change of script, visual language and rhythm. Since they often differ from the final film, they provide a unique insight into the early stages of the creative process and the diversity of approaches in domestic animation.

The editions will be presented by editor Matija Pisačić with a short conversation with the authors, followed by socializing with the authors and viewing the audiovisual templates.

ANIMAKLIK

The second edition of the Animaklik program brings together young animated filmmakers and producers, giving them the opportunity to present their works, dialogue and establish new collaborations. The program is intended for animation students and recent graduates, and consists of short presentations, speed dating with producers and informal socializing.

The goal of Animaklik is to enable young authors to show their style and approach to animation, meet production professionals and explore the possibilities of cooperation on future projects. The program also encourages the professional development and visibility of new generations of authors and contributes to connecting and strengthening the animated film scene in Croatia. The program manager is producer and educator Maša Udovičić.

STOP MOTION ANIMATION WORKSHOP FOR CHILDREN

The Stop Motion Animation workshop is intended for children aged 9 to 12.
