The intermedia installation "Constants" is a work of art that tries to discover how a person changes, how they remain the same, and how to prove that a certain person is always the same person, no matter how much they have changed throughout their lives.
The search for constants begins with my classic diaries in which everyday events and thoughts are recorded. I have been keeping a classic diary since June 15, 2001 until today, and so far there are 23 such diaries. They are created because of the need to record memories and look at past events in a new way, but also because of the pleasure of writing.
Constants are composed of three main ways of expression, and these are visual media, textual media and directly interactive media, i.e. play. Visual and textual media arose from the need to write and draw, and interactive media arose from the need for play that is present in all people, as well as other living beings. Through the 20 chapters of Constants there are: love, pathos, humor, irony, sarcasm, cynicism, atmosphere and the need to find oneself. This is a work in progress, it remains unfinished because the constants continue as long as the person exists, and perhaps even after death they transform into some forms currently unknown to me.
As personal as the Constants are, their idea is universal, they want to strive for other people and personalities. They invite the viewer to ask themselves what their constant is and to actively participate in the game of connecting and discovering similarities, differences and repetitions throughout life.
A person can be reduced to concepts, but a person is not concepts.
A person is an endless source and combination of components. A person changes over the years and takes on parts of other personalities, but a certain person is actually always that particular person. I actually started this artistic research because of my fascination with the contradiction that makes man and the universe work. A contradiction because man is constantly changing, but in fact he is always the same at his core.
Man is a constant change, man is a change about a constant.

BIOGRAPHY

Ana Jagić was born on July 24, 1991 in Zadar, Republic of Croatia. In 2010 she graduated from the John Paul II Classical Gymnasium in Zadar and in the same year she enrolled in the undergraduate university study of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Zagreb (class of prof. art. Nevenka Arbanas). The winter semester of akad. year. 2012/2013 is spent at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Belgium (Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten van Antwerpen) as part of the Erasmus student exchange. She graduated on February 9, 2016 under the mentorship of Assoc. Prof. Prof. M.Sc. Art. Tanja Dabo at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb.
