An Evening of Poetry

Poetry evenings began at the Academy, on Ilica, in March 2021. The agreement was: every Friday evening, around 6 or 7 p.m., we meet and read what we have written or read. The conditions are favorable: everyone is allowed to come, even if they just want to listen; the form and performance of the texts are not set, so all content is welcome (especially music). Opinions are respected, chopsticks are eaten and plavac is drunk. At the beginning, there were three, four, five of us. There was no organization, everything went by word of mouth. Every now and then, someone would invite a friend from their friend, and so it slowly spread, then narrowed again, then expanded again. The poetry movement moved from the Academy on Ilica to the Academy on Jadran Film, in cafes, apartments and meadows.

So far, we have had several public appearances. The first was in combination with an exhibition, in the library of Marija Jurić Zagorka (January 2024), then we were invited to be guests at the poetry morning in the café "Under the old roofs" and in the café "Backstage". We also recited as part of the event "Dubrava is burning" on Jadran film. The last public reading was held at the 16. Sesvete Poetry Marathon, on D. Domjanić Square.
