In September 2026, as part of the NPOO project "Space, Landscape and Territory", artistic, research and scientific activities were carried out in Mostar, Sarajevo, Lisbon and Sesvete.
Activities of the project "Space, Landscape and Territory" in September 2026
As part of the NRRP project Space, Landscape and Territory: Creating Space, Decolonization of Public Space and Marginality Zones, which is being implemented at the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Zagreb from 2025 to 2029, artistic, research and scientific activities were carried out during September 2026.
Mostar and Sarajevo
From September 5 to 6, 2026, an artistic and scientific research of the Boulevard in Mostar was conducted. The research was led by Assoc. Prof. Prof. Dr. Sc. Josip Zanki in collaboration with a PhD student at the Academy of Fine Arts Diana Zrnić.
In Mostar, cooperation with the Street Arts Festival and the Rezon association, which conducts the festival, was agreed. During the research stay in Sarajevo from September 6 to 8, cooperation with the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo was also agreed.
Speaking at the Public History Conference in Lisbon
Assistant Professor Petra Šarin (University of Zagreb) and Francesca Iorio (University of Tübingen) gave a presentation entitled "Narrating the Past, Shaping the Present: Signifiers of Difficult Pasts in Public Space on the Semi-Periphery of Southern Europe" at the 8th International Conference Public History – The Public History of Difficult Pasts, held from 7 to 11 September 2026 at NOVA FCSH in Lisbon.
The presentation is the result of the work on the NPOO project Space, Landscape and Territory: Creating Space, Decolonization of Public Space and Marginal Zones, led by Assoc. prof. dr. sc. Josip Zanki.
Murals in Sesvete
In cooperation with the Green and Blue Sesvete association, from September 13 to 21, 2026, murals were painted on the devastated building of the Križevčanka company, opposite the abandoned production premises of the Sljeme company.
The murals were painted by student Filip Paljar, alumna Franka Vrljić and PhD student Diana Zrnić, under the mentorship of prof. art. Tomislav Buntak and senior artistic associate art. Fedor Fischer.
The promotion of the activities was held on September 26, 2026.

As part of the NRRP project Space, Landscape, and Territory: Production of Space, Decolonization of Public Space, and Zones of Marginalities, implemented at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb, from 2025 to 2029, a number of artistic, research, and academic activities were carried out in September 2026.
Mostar and Sarajevo
On September 5–6, 2026, artistic and scientific research was conducted in the Boulevard area of Mostar. The research was led by Associate Professor Josip Zanki, PhD, in collaboration with Diana Zrnić, a doctoral candidate at the Academy of Fine Arts.
During the research visit to Mostar, a collaboration was established with the Street Arts Festival and the Rezon Association, which organizes the festival. During a research visit to Sarajevo from September 6 to 8, collaboration was also established with the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo.
Presentation at the Public History conference in Lisbon
Petra Šarin (University of Zagreb) and Francesca Iorio (University of Tübingen) presented the paper "Recounting the past, narrating the present: markers of difficult pasts in public spaces on the semi-periphery of Southern Europe" at the 8th International Conference on Public History – The Public History of Difficult Pasts, held at NOVA FCSH in Lisbon from September 7 to 11, 2026.
The presentation was the result of work carried out within the NRRP project Space, Landscape and Territory: Production of Space, Decolonization of Public Space and Zones of Marginalities, led by Associate Professor Josip Zanki, PhD.
Murals and Sesvete
