ABOUT THE "A4" PROJECT
"A4" is a national program that connects students of art academies and art history, conceived in cooperation with the previous participants of the Fast Forward program / Tuesdays at the Gallery (Museum of Fine Arts in Split). According to a public tender at the national level that includes students of the Universities of Osijek, Rijeka, Split and Zagreb, for the 5th year in a row, pairs of artists and art historians are selected for the purpose of organizing an exhibition that presents students of selected universities.
The "A4" program encourages cooperation between future artists and curators, and its model reflects the context of their future professional life, interdependence and cooperation. The ambition of the program is also to connect the involved universities within its scope, and participants are left with the choice of whether they want to collaborate with students of their own or another university.
FROM THE PREFACE OF THE EXHIBITION
"Long-term experiences of alienation, depression and fear, as current burdens of Generation Z, have resulted in the author's self-imposed isolation, which has mostly led to his escapism in the sphere of digital media, while the feelings that have developed are summarized in the common word ennui. Originally the title noun of the French language, ennui, translated into Croatian, stands for the words boredom, listlessness and dissatisfaction arising from the lack of excitement in life. The aforementioned descriptions become the inspiration for the theme of Frančić's new cycle.
Artist Mihael Frančić creates a cycle of eight psychological self-portraits, bringing to them his inner state that is reflected in depression, lethargy, anxiety and trauma. Experiential traumas experienced through verbal and physical violence have been transformed into a desire to avoid unnecessary exposure in front of the masses. This time, the artist consciously exposes himself on canvas. The basis for the work are photographs of the artist's body and environment taken with a mobile device from different perspectives. “

BIOGRAPHIES OF THE AUTHOR
Mihael Frančić was born in 1998 in Split. He graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Split in 2017, majoring in painting designer. He is a graduate student of the Department of Painting at the Academy of Arts in Split, in the class red. prof. art. (T) Viktor Popović and doc. art. Neli Ružić. He has realized four solo and participated in several group exhibitions. He is the winner of the A4 Museum of Fine Arts Award (G. edition) for 2022 with his colleague Blaženka Miše.
Blaženka Miše was born in 1999 in Split. She graduated from the Ivan Lucić High School in Trogir in 2018, high school. She is a second-year graduate student at the Department of Pedagogy and Art History at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split. She has collaborated on several student exhibition projects. She is the winner of the A4 Museum of Fine Arts Award (5th edition) for 2022 with her colleague Mihael Frančić.
The exhibition was realized with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and Media.
The exhibition in the Šira Gallery can be viewed during the working hours of the Gallery (Mon-Fri: 9-16 h, 18-20 h, Saturdays: 11-16 h) until 01.03.2023.
