ANDREJ ARANICKI was born in Zagreb in 1964. From 1978 to 1982 he was educated at the School of Applied Arts in Zagreb - Department of Sculpture / Plastic Design (acquired title; art expert for sculpture / plastic design). From 1983 to 1988 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb - Department of Sculpture and graduated in the class of Prof. Stanko Jančić (acquired title: B.Sc. Academic Sculptor). From 1990 to 1993 he studied at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb, at the Department of Information and Communication Sciences, Department of Museology, a two-year undergraduate study of Museology (graduated in 1993). From 1990 to 1994 he was a freelance artist, as a member of the then Croatian Association of Artists - ZUH (today the Croatian Association of Independent Artists - HZSU). From 1994 to 1998 he worked at the Institute for the Restoration of Works of Art (since 1997 it has changed its name to the Croatian Conservation Institute by merging with the Croatian Conservation Institute), in the Workshop for the Conservation and Restoration of Polychrome Wooden Sculptures. Since 1998, he has been employed for an indefinite period of time through a public tender at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, in the status of a junior assistant at the Department of Art Restoration, and was sent for professional training to postgraduate studies in Budapest. From 1998 to 2000 he studied at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts (MKE) in Budapest for postgraduate, master's degree in Restoration of Wooden Sculpture at the Department of Restoration and Conservation Institute (Institute of Restorer's Training, Budapest). He completed his studies with excellent success, defending his master's thesis (thesis) with the topic "Reconstruction of Wooden Polychrome Sculpture" (mentors: Prof. Erzsébet Szent-Gály and Prof. Mario Braun), and complete conservation and restoration work on the wooden polychrome sculpture Pièta from the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest (mentors: Prof. Erzsébet Szent-Gály and Prof. Péter Menráth). Also in Budapest, during the defense of his master's thesis and theses, he also took the state professional exam in the field of Protection of Cultural Monuments. On September 15, 2000 in Budapest, he was promoted to Master of Art – Restorer for Wooden Sculpture. On January 16, 2001, the Senate of the University of Zagreb issued a decision on the nostrification of the diploma he obtained at the postgraduate study at the Faculty of Culture in Budapest, recognizing the title of Master of Arts, Art Restoration – Wooden Sculpture.

In April 2002, he became an associate assistant at the Department of Art Restoration, continuing his work within the subject "Restoration of Wooden Sculpture", which he independently created in 2000. In 2004, he moved to the associate title of senior assistant, and created and carried out the elective subject "Carving and Gilding". In 2005, the Ministry of Culture, Directorate for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, granted him a permit, i.e. a license for independent work on the protection and preservation of cultural heritage, narrower specialization: polychrome wooden sculpture. In January 2007, the Ministry of Culture, Directorate for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, according to the Ordinance on Professional Titles in Conservation and Restoration Activities, awarded him the professional title: Senior Conservator-Restorer for a narrower specialty – polychrome wooden sculpture. In December 2008, he moved to the higher scientific-teaching title of assistant professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Restoration and Conservation of Fine Arts. He was the head of the Department of Art Restoration at the Academy of Fine Arts from 2009 to 2015. In April 2013, he moved to the higher scientific-teaching title of associate professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Conservation and Restoration of Fine Arts, and in June 2020 he moved to the higher title of full professor. In April 2016, the Ministry of Culture, Directorate for the Protection of Cultural Heritage awarded him a higher professional title: Conservator-Restorer Advisor for a narrower specialty - polychrome wooden sculpture. He has been a member of the Croatian Conservation Society since 1996, and from 2010 to 2014 he was the president of the Society, and since 2014 the president of the Supervisory Board of the Society. He has been a member of the Croatian Association of Fine Artists (HDLU) since 1989. She is fluent in English, both verbally and in writing. In 1998 he started working at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb as a junior assistant at the Department of Art Restoration (today the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art), where he is now a full professor. He is the lecturer of the following courses: "Introduction to Conservation and Restoration", "Conservation and Restoration of Wooden Sculpture 1", "Conservation and Restoration of Wooden Sculpture 2", "Conservation and Restoration 2", "Sculpture 4/R", "Restoration Practice 2", "Restoration Practice 3", "Preparation of Graduate Thesis", "Carving and Gilding 1", "Carving and Gilding 2", "Master's Thesis" - mentor and commentator of graduate theses.

The field of teaching is Conservation and restoration of wooden sculpture, methodology of conservation and restoration procedure, knowledge of materials and processes, ethical principles, application of the so-called museum approach of conservation-restoration of works of art and the production and conservation-restoration of traditional gilding on a wooden support, as well as mastering the skill of wood carving and making reconstructions.
